A wedding,
a cocktail hour,
a dinner from Lula,
and dancing
We want everyone to get home safely, so we’ve created a Lyft code (HMKCWEDDING)! There are instructions on how to use a Lyft code here and instructions on how to access our specific code here — or you can just click this link from your phone to make the magic happen. If you would prefer to drive, we have parking for 48 cars at nearby Hayt Elementary; you can leave your car overnight.
We’ll be dressed in our finest, and would love for you to wear whatever will make you feel fancy, fun, and ready to dance.
Is the after-party, of course. Assuming it’s safe to go to dive bars in October, our plan is to head to Estelle’s, at 2013 W North Ave, after we’re done at the Firehouse.
Change of plans! Since we weren't stoked on the idea of a cozy dive bar open to the public, we’re just going to head back to our place after. Heather’s brother Michael will be tending bar, our cat Tony will be workin’ the door, and we'll have a bus to take folks there from the venue. All are welcome!
We were really hoping we wouldn’t have to write this section when we started planning, but here we are:
We’re sincerely sorry if this means you can’t make it — we understand and look forward to celebrating with you another time.
Now, for the choose your own adventure portion! We recommend (in no particular order):
Gifts are certainly not necessary — you being with us at our wedding and throughout our lives is already such a gift! If you do feel inclined, though, we have a registry at Zola. We've included a few things that will help us entertain all of you lovely people, since one of the things we most look forward to is having people over for a great meal and great company. We've also included a link to the Chicago Food Bank, which supplies many food pantries across the city; a donation to them would also be lovely!
We’re hosting a picnic near our place on Saturday afternoon! Costumes are encouraged (it is Halloween weekend after all). Join us anytime between 12:00pm–5:00pm at The Bucktown Green, a sweet little park around the corner from us at 1724 N Wilmot Ave. Kids and dogs are also welcome; we will have tamales (meat and cheese) and candy — BYO drinks, chairs, and any other grub you'd like for yourself or to share!
We’ll come back soon and add some of our favorite activites, bars, and restaurants, but for now: maybe go spend an hour looking at some art at the Art Institute of Chicago, have a drink down by the river at the Northman, and then have an excellent Sichuan Chinese meal at Lao Sze Chuan?
